If your bouquet arrives in a water-filled aqua pack, carefully remove it and empty the water into the sink. You can leave the flowers wrapped for a few hours, but I’d recommend unwrapping them within 24 hours to let them breathe.
Start with a clean vase—this makes a huge difference! I like to add a little spray of bleach, rinse it out, and leave a few bubbles in there. This helps prevent bacteria from growing, which can shorten the life of your flowers. Fill your vase with fresh, cool water and add the flower food that comes with your bouquet. Make sure no leaves or petals are sitting in the water, as these can cause bacteria to build up.
Before you pop your flowers in the vase, give the stems a fresh trim at an angle. This helps them drink more water and stay hydrated. You can leave the twine tied around the bouquet—this keeps the arrangement in its designed shape.
Place your bouquet in the vase, and you’re all set to enjoy your flowers.
To keep your flowers looking their best, change the water every couple of days. When you do, give the vase another quick rinse with a little bleach and re-trim the stems to keep them fresh. It’s also best to keep your flowers away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or fruit bowls—these can cause them to fade more quickly.
